Overview

On 1 June 2026, Malaysia's Employment Pass rules changed on three fronts at once: minimum salary thresholds rose sharply, total employment terms became capped, and a succession plan turned into a filing requirement. Category II — the band most Japanese-affiliated companies rely on for local hires — roughly doubled from RM5,000 to RM10,000 a month. Several months on, the published guidance still does not tell you how these rules are being applied in practice, and for the person who has to prepare the file, that gap is the whole problem. This seminar is delivered by the staff who file EP applications every day and deal with the authorities directly. We walk through the amendments in full, the practical points to watch when preparing a file, and how Tokyo Consulting Firm Malaysia can take the work off your hands.
