Law 13,755 – Commercialization of Vehicles in Brazil

The law no. 13,755 was published in the Federal Official Gazette on December 10th, 2018, which has as one of its main purposes the definition of mandatory standards for the commercialization of vehicles in Brazil.

The Federal Executive must establish the requirements, which are mandatory for new vehicles produced in the country and imported classified under codes from 87.01 to 87.06 of TIPI – Tax Incidence Table of Industrialized Products (Decree No. 8.950). All this evaluating the vehicular labeling, vehicular energy efficiency and structural performance associated with technology assistance the direction.

In addition, the same official department can regulate and change the IPI rates to up to 2% for those who meet the specific requirements of energy efficiency. And for vehicles that achieve the structural performance associated with technology within the required standards may have the IPI of up to 1 %.
