Hola a todos!
This is Augusto Corallo from Mexico City.
Don’t let the market catch you by surprise. Retail sales advanced less than 1% in both 2014 and 2013. Wal-Mart’s Mexican arm, Walmex, experienced a surge in share price in 2015, as Mexican consumers flocked to its stores and profits jumped. In contrast, the parent company’s shares were decimated in 2015.
The deputy Mexican finance minister attributes the country’s relative recent success to the “dynamism of the domestic market.” The mood of Mexican consumers reflects that dynamism, as consumer confidence increased in November for the third straight month. Consumers remain positive both about their current economic situation and prospects for the next 12 months. Household spending power, including wages and consumer credit, are increasing consistently.
