The deputy Mexican finance minister attributes the country's relative recent success to the “dynamism of the domestic market.” The mood of Mexican consumers reflects that dynamism, as consumer confidence in November last year for the third straight month. Consumers remain positive both about their current economic situation and prospects for the next 12 months. Household spending power, including wages and consumer credit are increasing consistently.

Malls were crowded, and in the first nine months of 2016, retail sales grew 6.2%. Retail sales advanced less than 1% in both 20154 and 2014. Wal-Mart's Mexican arm, as Mexican consumers flocked to its stores and profits jumped. In contrast, the parent company were decimated in 2015.
